The Power of Cultural Visual Arts in Expressing Your True Identity.

Looking back on our childhood, we remember the traditional play, the food, and the cultural activities that define who we are. As children, our true selves are expressed through these cultural experiences, which shape our identities.

Cultural play is not only fun but also therapeutic. Engaging in cultural virtual arts like drama, dance, and music allows us to express our true identity without fear of judgment. When we dress in traditional attire, we attract admiration for our uniqueness and showcase the beauty of our culture.

Visual arts, dance, music, drama, and storytelling have healing powers that are often underestimated. Expressing our true identity through these art forms can be transformative. For example, children can imagine themselves being taller than they really are, and this can boost their self-confidence and self-esteem.

Cultural attire is beauty filled with boldness

I feel so beautiful whenever I engage in my Igbo cultural play and creative arts activities. When I was a child, I used to dance with other children in groups. As I grew older, I lost the touch due to societal expectations. Now, I feel so empowered when I engage in Igbo cultural activities. I go through a unique type of healing and grounding. I am beautiful!

Exhibiting and showcasing cultural creative and visual arts encourages self-acceptance, engagement, and development and reduces discrimination. When we embrace our cultural heritage and share it with others, we create a more inclusive and respectful society.

As we grow older, we may lose touch with our cultural identity. However, we can always reconnect with it through cultural visual arts. By embracing our cultural heritage and expressing our true selves, we can find healing and empowerment.

                                                                                                                   Culture is Uniqueness and boldness

I use to be a very shy girl but wearing  my traditional  attire and engaging in my heritage Igbo dance and drama feels me with boldness, I feel so special and I can experience the uniqueness  in me. I feel so confident about myself, and I can freely  express myself and my talents.

In conclusion, cultural visual arts have the power to express our true identity and heal our souls. By engaging in cultural play, showcasing our unique cultural activities and talents, and embracing our heritage, we can create a more inclusive and respectful society where everyone feels free to express their true selves. What do you think?  What do you remember about your childhood and your identity as a child before the societal conditioning?
